If you have an NVivo license for NVivo 12, NVivo 11 and NVivo 10, you can download the version you require within the myNVivo portal. On the Download NVivo page, older versions are listed under the heading ‘Download Older Versions of NVivo’. Click the drop down to see all versions available to download. Students are limited to one license per transaction and each license must be purchased by the intended end user. Licenses are valid for 12 months and you must have a valid student email and ID to purchase. Purchase of Student licenses may be subject to verification by QSR International. All SFU NVivo users will need to input the new license key in order to continue using the software. For Windows: Compatibility with previous versions of NVivo. NVivo 12 (Windows) allow users to open and work with projects from previous versions of QSR software: NVivo 11, NVivo 10, NVivo 9, NVivo 8, NVivo 7, NVivo 2, NVivo 1, N6 (NUD.IST 6), N5.

The university has a site license for QSR Nvivo (Versions 10, 11 and 12) making it available to all staff and students. If you would like to install the software on your PC or laptop please follow the steps below:
Students
- using your Student credentials, login to Unidesk and complete the Software request form to ask for a license
- Go to the Nvivo website and 'Sign up'
- Still on the Nvivio website, download suitable version for your device
- Install the software
- During the install you'll be asked for a license key, enter the details you've received from the UHI Servicedesk. If you haven't applied for this yet, opt to start a 14 day trial, you will need to go in later and add a proper license key.
Staff
- using your Staff credentials, login to Unidesk and complete the Software request form to ask for a license
- go to file location in file explorer - uhi-f02UHI_SoftwareQSR NVivo
- Install the suitable version for your device (usually v12)
- During the install you'll be asked for a license key, enter the details you've received from the UHI Servicedesk. If you haven't applied for this yet, opt to start a 14 day trial, you will need to go in later and add a proper license key.
Nvivo 12 License Key
You will only be licensed to use this whilst you are a student or staff at the university, if you leave you should remove the software. The software should only be used for academic or research purposes, it should not be used for commercial or personal financial gain.
